Whatever may inspire you to visit this very beautiful location at the gateway to the Pyrenees. You will find it an ideal place to come spend some time and maybe to return to again and again. Each time something different may draw you back.
For thousands of years people have retreated to this area seeking rest and sustenance before continuing their journey. Some came to drink the healing waters that continue to flow. One of the ancient sources still flows at the centre of the gallery where people still come to partake of its healing waters. Today Angels now surround these same waters.
It is possible to stay within the beautiful village of Alet les Bains and there are several choices of accommodation available, from the village hotel, gites (apartment style), chambre d’hôtel (B&Bs), to a nearby Chateau and an all year Camp Site in the village itself.
While car hire is inexpensive and is recommended, it is possible to travel from
Carcassonne by rail and bus.
Local guides with transport are also available.
3 day programme based on arrival at Carcassonne Airport.
Day 1. Arrive and collect car hire or take bus into city. Walk or drive to ancient city ‘Le Cite’. Shop, tour and dine in this ancient walled city. When ready, follow the short drive south to your chosen accommodation.
Day 2. After breakfast visit the Sanctuary where you can spend the day in quiet reflection. Spending time along the river and walking the old town. In the evening dine at the hotel (2minutes from our Sanctuary) or one of the nearby restaurants
(15minutes drive)
Day 3. Return to airport. Tours are available with local guides and transport. Additional days can be spent at the Sanctuary, visiting nearby places of interest including; Rennes le Chateau (20 minutes drive) or Montsegur 1 hour, follow Cathar Trails and Templars Castles, walk sacred mountains (Bugarach), discover unsolved mysteries, for the less adventurous there are several walking, biking and horse riding trails running through the area.
